We Also Install Seamless Gutters…

Posted on by Andy Czaplinski in Vinyl Siding Leave a comment

If you’re planning to have new vinyl siding installed on your home, why not take care of your gutters at the same time?  It’s something we do all the time, and it’s more efficient to have this done together with the siding because we already have the scaffolding and ladders all set up – which means we can include seamless gutters for only a small additional price.

In this video we talk a little about our approach to installing seamless gutters at one of our CT job sites.

Creative Home Improvement has been installing Vinyl Siding all over Fairfield County for nearly 40 years.

Today we’re talking with Andy about the option of installing seamless gutters at the same time as vinyl siding.

We use 0.032 gauge aluminum on all our gutters, it’s the thickest material you can get, so if you ever have to put a ladder up against it, it’s not gonna bend.

On this job we used Cedar impressions from Certainteed – giving you the real wood shingle look without the maintenance

We work in many area towns including Orange, Derby, Ansonia and more.

The Details Make The Difference: Siding Around Outdoor Lights

Posted on by Andy Czaplinski in Vinyl Siding Leave a comment

When installing vinyl siding on your home, it’s important to use proper j-blocks when putting the outside lights back up.  Not only does this give a clean finished look, but it also insures water does not leak in through the light junction box area – which could cause multiple problems.

As we’ve discussed in the past, you can get the highest quality siding materials for your home, but if it’s not installed meticulously, you’re going to experience problems down the road – and you lose the benefit of having a “maintenance free” vinyl exterior.

Creative Home Improvement has been installing Vinyl Siding all over Fairfield County for nearly 40 years. Today we’re talking with Andy about how they handle siding around outdoor lights

On every vinyl siding project we install j blocks, which go behind your lights.  The key to that is – it’s a beautiful finished look – when we’re done the vinyl siding fits into the built in j channel on the j block and then your light gets attached on top of the j block. Of course, these lights are a little old – so when it comes time to do your project, if you buy brand new lights, we’ll put those up at no additional charge.

On this job we used Cedar impressions from Certainteed – giving you the real wood shingle look without the maintenance. We work in many area towns including Trumbull, Stratford, Easton and more. To request a quote, call us at (203) 929-5737 or visit CreativeHomeImprovementLLC.com

“The neighbors spoke very, very highly of him…”

We’re always amazed at the feedback we receive from our customers. In the video below, our video person interviewed a couple from Hamden, CT – asking about their experience with having vinyl siding installed on their home as well as with Creative Home Improvement.

A few highlights:

  • They were both working full time during the project, so it was important to find a contractor they could trust while they were away.
  • It’s an older home, so they were very interested in a solution that looked like real wood yet did not require the expense and maintenance of real cedar

Watch / read the full interview below …

Excerpts From The Video

“We were very tired of the old siding. It looked bad, we were trying to figure out what we could do to make the house look better. We went to a home show and saw the examples of what could be done, and one of them was the (cedar impressions) siding that we chose. We thought that it looks great and would probably be a lot cheaper than tearing down the old siding, putting up all new wood and then painting it.”

“…. we have the Cedar Impressions, because it’s an older home and it makes the look of the cedar. The first time I saw it I was fooled by it. That’s why we chose it. We know it will last a lot longer than just wood, and we don’t have to paint it every five or six years. Its got 30 years on it minimum. So it seemed like the best possibility or the best option for us.”

“We both work and we were never here when the work was being completed, so we felt that we were in good hands with Andy and his dad, that we could go to work each day and know that our property was safe and would be well cared for. That right there put a level of trust for us. The neighbors spoke very, very highly of him. I think Andy’s personality, he just presented himself as trustworthy, sincere, hard working, and his own company responded in a timely manner, and you really felt comfortable with him. I think it’s the kind of decision you have to make anytime you have someone in your home and we were just very comfortable with him.”

“I would recommend Andy and his company to anyone without one moment of hesitation.”

Truly Maintenance Free Vinyl Siding: A Quality Installation Is Crucial

Posted on by Andy Czaplinski in Vinyl Siding Leave a comment

Many home owners decide to go with vinyl siding because they’re tired of painting their house.

The idea of having a completely maintenance free exterior is wonderful – not to mention the other added benefits such as improved insulation (R value) and curb appeal (especially if you’re using something like cedar impressions siding). Although siding as a product is designed to be virtually maintenance free for a lifetime, if it’s not installed meticulously, there’s bound to be trouble.

At Creative Home Improvement, we take pride in each and every vinyl siding installation – and our best measurement is the large number of happy customers and referrals we receive, spanning 40 years.

Creative Home Improvement is a family owned business that has been helping Fairfield County home owners with their vinyl siding needs for nearly 40 years. Today we’re talking with Andy about choosing the right insulation to go along with your new vinyl siding – and the difference it can make when it comes to keeping your home warm this winter.

After you make the decision to install vinyl siding on your home, a key decision is to decide on what type of insulation to go with. On this house we’re installing Dow insulation, 2 x 8 sheets, half inch. You can always go down to 3/8 insulation but the 2 x 8 sheets of half inch Dow is definitely more rigid. During the winter months you’re gonna save a lot on heating costs by going with the thicker insulation.

As craftsmen, our goal is to do exceptional work. And our mission is to provide such an amazing & positive experience that you can’t wait to run out and tell your neighbors about us! We work in many CT towns including Stratford, Seymour, Fairfield – and more.

Vinyl Siding Shelton Newtown Monroe CT … Why is custom aluminum trim important?

Posted on by Andy Czaplinski in Vinyl Siding Leave a comment

A siding installation is really only maintenance free if installed in a high quality way. Find out about our process with custom aluminum trim …

Full Video Transcription:
At Creative Home Improvement, we’ve been installing Vinyl Siding in Fairfield County for almost 40 years.

Today we’re on a job in Shelton Connecticut, talking about the advantages of using custom aluminum trim when hanging vinyl siding.

The key to a quality vinyl siding project is your aluminum trim. We make the aluminum trim with a built in j channel. Two aspects of the built in j channel custom made aluminum trim – the siding fits right into the built in j channel and it also acts a a flashing to protect any water infiltration around your windows.

If you can pretend this is your wood trim around your windows, what some companies do – they take j channel, your standard j channel, put it right up to your wood trim, then all they do is wrap this with aluminum. So you’re left with aluminum, j channel, and then siding. So by doing it with the custom built aluminum j channel, we skip the j channel step, and the vinyl siding fits right into the attached j channel on our aluminum trim. And here’s the finished product.

On many of our projects, including this one, we recommend Cedar impressions from Certainteed. As you can see it looks just like real wood shingles, but never has to be painted.
